About the Role

The Accountant is an integral part of Latham’s Finance & Accounting team. This role will be responsible for reviewing invoices and expenses through the Chrome River platform and initiating payment, preparing client billing and responding to billing related queries, ensuring all client guidelines, internal protocol and firm policies are followed and enforced, keeping local accounting books, and performing reconciliations and analyses, and providing support to tax filing, annual audit, annual budget, and other ad-hoc projects, while analysing invoices, exercising judgment, and identifying issues that require escalation. This role will be located in our Beijing office.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in payment initiation; reviewing accounting documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Communicating with external vendors and internal customers about requests and updating them on the progress
  • Responding to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Providing support to the inventory management function, including but not limited to quarterly write-off campaign, pledging campaign, small matter clean-up, and Finance Committee calls

  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm
  • Display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus
  • Possess strong knowledge of bookkeeping procedures such as posting, balancing, debits and credits, and journal entries

And have:

  • Relevant experience in accounting processes and practices
  • Prior experience with law firm/audit firm
