About the Role

The Business Development Manager is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development (BD) team and will be responsible for the full spectrum of marketing and business development activities to support the Asia-wide Finance practice areas, including Banking, Private Equity Finance, and Structured Finance and Derivatives across the Asia region. 

 

In addition to responsibilities leading on BD support of our finance practices, there will also be opportunities for the successful candidate to lead on additional emerging practices and industries across Asia, playing a central role in their growth and development in the region.

 

This role will be located in our Singapore office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of practice, market, and industry expertise, client mix, matter experience, trade groups, and media, and using it to develop and execute strategic business development and marketing plans.
  • Building strong relationships with highly engaged partners, counsel, and associates who appreciate the value that best-in-class BD support can deliver.
  • Conducting research and competitive analysis on market, industry, and client developments to identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, expand the client base, and identify new opportunities.
  • Working with lawyers and the BD client development teams to devise and successfully deliver initiatives with established and high-growth clients, helping to manage those client relationships.
  • Developing internal communications to inform relevant practice and industry groups of significant achievements, developments, and market synergies.
  • Collaborating closely with the regional and global business development team to ensure local BD plans support firmwide strategies. Support the global team in delivering firmwide BD initiatives.

 

We’d love to hear from you if you:

 

  • Possess extensive knowledge of core marketing principles, including internal communications, public relations, seminar/event planning, branding, market research, competitive intelligence, pitching, and client development
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership and project management skills (i.e., organising, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm

 

And have:

 

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Progressively responsible business development and marketing experience in a legal or professional services environment
  • A high level of fluency in written and spoken English
